Architecture is a design profession, but running a successful, resilient, and equitable practice requires strong business acumen. Today, 82% of architects are white, while women of color comprise only 8% of the profession and men of color 13%. To empower a more representative profession, it is critical to go beyond increasing numbers and to share the knowledge and skills that drive retention, career mobility, and financial prosperity. This session introduces NOMA members to AIA resources that unlock the next level of professional success through skill building, strategic leadership, and playbooks for financial growth. Participants will explore key AIA learning pathways: AIAU, the Firm Management Summit, and the Business Academy, designed to meet a range of practice types, budgets, and experience levels. The session also highlights the AIA Compensation Study and Firm Survey, demonstrating how these tools provide valuable market insights and can be leveraged as a financial barometer that drives data-driven decision-making. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to strengthen firm operations, expand profitability, and build leadership capacity. By leveraging these tools, architects can grow thriving firms, advance their careers, and help build a profession that more accurately reflects the communities it serves.
