Long considered an alternative to the traditional college pathway, Career Technical Education (CTE) is becoming a way in which students can cultivate skillsets that transcend the boundaries of post-secondary education. CTE programs across the nation are experiencing a renaissance as they transition from traditional technical training to authentic, hands-on learning, focused on preparing students for contemporary careers. With the aid of a set of case studies from different school systems, this session will outline methods for delivering this type of real-world, skills-based learning based on the CTE Career pathway. These case studies of new and renovated spaces incorporate re-envisioned Career Technical Education programs and the learning spaces themselves to focus on collaboration between career pathways, connections with local business communities, and modeling real-world professional work environments.
