Rod Henmi has compiled a distinguished career as architect, educator and advocate for social justice. He is an award-winning designer, having completed more than 4000 units of affordable housing, multiple schools and infrastructure buildings. He is deeply committed to furthering opportunities for minority architects and underserved communities and was recently inducted into the Council of NOMA, National Organization of Minority Architects, the highest award given to NOMA members. As a result of his career achievements, influence on the profession and community service, he was invested in 2011 into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, the highest award given to AIA members. He serves on multiple nonprofit boards and is a planning commissioner for his city. He is an experienced university professor, having taught for fourteen years at the School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis and as a visiting critic at several other schools. He is an enthusiastic hip-hop dancer, lover of R and B and avid traveler who documents his journeys through carefully crafted hand drawings, which have been widely exhibited and published.
