Alvaro joined BIG in 2014 and is currently a Project Leader in the New York City office. Working with clients such as The
Smithsonian Institution, Toyota, NYC Department of Transportation, 0rsted, and Robert De Niro, Alvaro specializes in leading
innovative yet buildable designs that bring a focus to technology and ecology. His experience ranges from BIG's pioneering
Wildflower Film Studios, a 650,000-square-foot facility for media creation, to bringing together vehicular infrastructure and
human centered urbanism in New York City. He is a key designer for the company's social and cultural projects including the
National Juneteenth Museum, Toyota Connected City, Brooklyn Queens Expressway Re-Envisioning, among others. As well as
infrastructure projects at the forefront of the energy transition including 0rsted's renewable energy hub and Brightmark
plastics renewal facility. In addition, he has experience in Urban Design and large-scale infrastructure projects including the
Smithsonian South Campus Masterplan in Washington DC and the new Obersendling District in Munich, Germany. Prior to
joining BIG, Alvaro received his Master of Architecture from Parsons School of Design in New York, New York and Bachelor of
Arts in Architecture from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
