Kathleen Starghill Sherrill
Kathleen Sherrill founded and leads the SP Arch Inc as its Principal Architect. With over 35 years of experience, her responsibilities include design process oversight, lead architectural designer, management and quality control oversight. Her projects include Historic Restoration and Adaptive Reuse, Military, Higher Education, Pre-K-12 Education, Airport and Transportation, and Religious Facilities, as well as Community Centers, Office Buildings, Storage and Factory Buildings. She served in several capacities in the AIA Baltimore Chapter, including the Executive Board and as 2012 President. Kathleen then served as secretary of the AIA Maryland Board until 2015. She was then elected President Elect and served as 2016 AIA Maryland President. Kathleen has taught in several capacities, including as guest lecturer at Morgan State University and as an adjunct professor teaching Management, Practice and Law. She was awarded outstanding alumni by the School of Architecture and Planning at the Founders’ Day Convocation in 2011. Additional awards include Top 100 MBE Business in the Mid-Atlantic Region in 2011. In 2017, Kathleen was approached to help establish a local chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects. She immediately accepted and was later asked to serve as its first president, and did so until 2019.
