For twenty years I’ve been speaking on technical topics at conferences around the country. Not a single technology I’ve ever discussed has gone from relative obscurity to perceived maturity in as short a time as Artificial Intelligence. Architects are in a unique position to capitalize on AI advancements. The genre is already affecting the design professions and will do so increasingly as the technology evolves. By leveraging predictive analytics and learning algorithms, architects can gain access to insights that would have been impossible before. This improved efficiency can help them create more innovative designs while reducing time-consuming manual tasks like data entry or calculations - allowing them to focus on what matters most. I've previously covered AI’s migration to the graphics hardware that accelerates our renderings and what comes after Building Information Modeling software. Now we’ll cast the net broader to discover the inroads this technology has made on every facet of practice. We’ll explore answers to: How does this affect my professional life? What’s the role of the architect when the machine “knows” more? Are there ethical questions to be considered? Do I have a place in improving these outcomes? What is the price we’re paying for this digital juggernaut?
