Brad Moore, Executive Director of the Overland Park Historical Society, will give a presentation on the early founding of a new suburban community that would eventually become the City of Overland Park, the second largest city in the State of Kansas. In the aftermath of a devasting flood in Kansas City in 1903, entrepreneur and interurban railroad builder, William B. Strang, saw an opportunity to create a flood-free community on high ground southwest of Kansas City. His vision became reality in less than three years.

Brad Moore is an Overland Park native. Prior to becoming the Executive Director for OPHS, Brad had been with BRR Architecture for over 18 years, focusing primarily on project entitlement, design, permitting and code compliance. Prior to joining BRR, Brad was the Plans Administrator for the City of Mission Hills, Kansas, for nearly 12 years, as well as a building inspector for the City of Overland Park. Brad graduated from the University of Kansas, where he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1988. He is a member of the Leawood Rotary, where he served as President in 2017/2018 Rotary year. He is also a member of the Paul Harris Society. In his spare time, Brad is also a singer, actor and builder of dollhouses. Brad and his wife, Kim, reside in Overland Park. They have two grown children, Ryan and Emily.
