Description

Kansas City once had the third-largest cable car system in the U.S., behind only San Francisco and Chicago. But over time, the city shifted heavily toward car dependency, losing much of its once-thriving transit network.Today, that story is evolving. Since its launch in 2016, the KC Streetcar has sparked over $4 billion in downtown development and now represents a renewed focus on connectivity, reinvestment, and a more sustainable urban future.

On this three-part tour, hosted by HNTB & KC Global Design in collaboration with local streetcar development partners, participants will explore the streetcar’s impact through a series of stops that delve into the history, current operations, the future expansion of the system, and how the city can work towards making transportation a tool for equity and growth. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of how public transportation is shaping the future of Kansas City.
