Speaker Bio
Matt Kleinmann is the Director of Community Development at Vibrant Health, where he leads efforts to integrate design, health equity, and community engagement into healthcare infrastructure projects. Trained in architecture and urban design, Matt applies his background in participatory design to improve health outcomes in Wyandotte County. Before joining Vibrant Health, he co-founded Dotte Agency, a community-based design collaborative at the University of Kansas School of Architecture that focused on tangible responses to public health challenges, including fitness trail stations, small business incubators, and a mobile grocery store. Matt has worked at the intersection of architecture and public health for years, emphasizing the role of the built environment in shaping social and health outcomes. In 2018, he attended the Design Justice Summit, where he collaborated with national leaders in equitable design. A year later, he co-led Kansas City's first Project Pipeline camp with Bryan C. Lee Jr., introducing underrepresented youth to architecture and design as a tool for social change. Matt bridges architecture and advocacy at Vibrant Health, ensuring community voices shape healthcare spaces. His work prioritizes equity-driven design strategies that make clinics and public spaces more accessible, welcoming, and responsive to the needs of historically excluded populations.
