As Design Partner at SOM, Olin Mackenzie is a leader in realizing complex civic and transportation projects that
shape urban life, drawing inspiration from his experience of cities and the design choices that animate urban
spaces. Born and raised in Miami, Olin  brings deep familiarity with local culture, climate, and development,
grounding ambitious design ideas in the realities of an ever-changing coastal city. In his design of the Brightline
Florida corridor – including the MiamiCentral Station in Downtown Miami – Olin defined a new model for privately
funded intercity rail, integrating high-performance infrastructure with a symbolic civic gateway. His work focuses on
clear structural expression, intuitive passenger circulation, and resilient urban design that stitches together
previously divided neighborhoods while supporting transit-oriented development and walkable, mixed-use growth.
