Tya Winn
Speaker Bio

Tya Winn is the Executive Director of the Community Design Collaborative and an Adjunct Professor at Temple University and Thomas Jefferson University. Ms. Winn currently serves as a Commissioner on the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustments. She is also an organizer and core member of the DAP Collective and Dark Matter University. She has served as the Public Member on the AIA Philadelphia Board of Directors since 2015. Ms. Winn received her BARCH at Syracuse University and her MARCH at the University of Pennsylvania. Since then, she has focused her career on real estate and community development, prioritizing affordable housing creation, economic development, creative placemaking, and urban revitalization. She is an active member of the National Organization of Minority Architects. In practice, Tya focuses on equitable development practices, anti- racist design justice principles, and how experience of the built environment shapes perceptions of place. Ms. Winn has extensive experience in community outreach and engagement, that support the stakeholder engagement needs at the Navy Yard. She has also focused her career in the areas of affordable housing, equitable public space, and tactical urbanism. Her deep understanding of Philadelphia neighborhoods brings local knowledge.
