Craig Atkinson, NOMA, AIA, DBIA, LEED AP, is the Managing Principal of the Los Angeles Office and Director of Higher Education at Carrier Johnson + Culture, where he leads national strategy to grow the firm’s higher education practice across San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Atlanta. He is the current West Region Vice President of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and a former President of the SoCal NOMA Chapter. A DBIA-certified professional, Craig brings nearly a decade of experience delivering alternative delivery and design-build projects. Previously, Craig spent more than 30 years at IBI Group and Arcadis as a Director and Senior Principal Architect, leading California’s Public Practice across multiple offices statewide. He also served as Executive Sponsor of the firm’s JEDI Task Force, advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and supporting their integration into Arcadis’ global Diversity, Belonging, and Human Rights programs. Craig is a California-licensed architect and a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, with international study in Copenhagen, Denmark. His career spans complex educational and civic projects throughout California, and he is recognized for building consensus, fostering trusted partnerships, and aligning delivery strategies with mission-driven outcomes.
