Elizabeth G. Camargo, AIA, NOMA, LEED AP, is the founding principal of EC Architecture + Design, a Miami Beach–based architecture and interior design firm with over 20 years of practice. She brings extensive experience across residential, commercial, and entertainment projects, having worked with leading firms in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Her work is rooted in the challenges of coastal architecture, where climate change and sea level rise are constant design drivers. Through her practice, she develops resilient, context-sensitive solutions tailored to Miami Beach’s evolving environmental conditions. In response to Hurricane Irma, Elizabeth founded the AIA Miami Resilient Recovery Task Force in 2017, launching the chapter’s Disaster Assistance Program and advancing resilience initiatives. She also helped establish the AIA Florida Resilience Committee, strengthening awareness of climate-driven challenges statewide. She served as the 2025 AIA Florida President and is a member of the AIA Resilience and Disaster Response Committee. Elizabeth holds a degree in Architecture and Planning from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul and a Master of Science in Architectural Studies from MIT, focused on environmental design. She has taught at Florida International University and serves on the City of Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board.
