Michael Urueta is an architectural designer based in South Carolina. He holds a Master of Architecture from Clemson University, where he received the 2023 AIA Medal for Academic Excellence which recognizes top graduating students from NAAB-accredited degree programs. Michael was also selected to the Metropolis Future 100, class of 2023 that aims to designate top graduating Architecture and interior design students in the United States and Canada. Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Clemson University, where he received the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Award, presented to a senior undergraduate student who exhibits excellence in service and advocacy for the advancement of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to build a better community for Clemson’s School of Architecture. During his time at Clemson University, Michael was a Co-President and Graduate Adviser of the Clemson NOMAS Chapter, earning NOMAS Chapter of the Year in 2023. He played an integral planning role in the chapter’s 2022 Regional Conference Addressing Erasure: Designing Our Future. Michael served as a member of the Woodland Cemetery Working Group and was an Architecture Research Assistant for Dr. Rhondda Thomas and the Call My Name: Clemson research project. Michael has worked at Equip Studio, MASS Design Group, and LS3P Associates. He serves as the 2024 Project Pipeline Chair for the South Carolina NOMA Chapter and is a Director on the Board of AIA Charleston.
