Billy Askey draws inspiration from his profound understanding of the human experience and his conviction in architecture’s capacity to enrich communities. With nearly two decades of diverse experience, including roles in Washington D.C. and New York City, Billy consistently leads project teams to deliver outstanding design solutions tailored to various cultural, social, and economic contexts. He seamlessly blends composition, poetry, and pragmatism, resulting in projects renowned for their design excellence and technical innovation.
A co-founder of EVOKE, Billy has helped propel the firm to prestigious heights, earning accolades like the Progressive Architecture Award and the 2021 AIA Triangle Firm of the Year Award. His projects consistently receive recognition from the AIA, underscoring his unwavering commitment to excellence. In 2019, he was honored with the AIA North Carolina Emerging Professional Award.
Billy’s influence extends beyond his architectural practice. As Professor of the Practice at NC State since 2014, he nurtures the next generation of architects while also serving as an esteemed critic at renowned institutions like Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Auburn.
