Joseph James is a multimodal designer residing in Brooklyn, New York. With a formal background in architecture, he utilizes an interdisciplinary design approach as a catalyst to ideate, story-tell, and visualize within the context of the existing and imagined. A co-founder of Partners of Place and The United Amends Project, Joseph’s work responds to root factors that contribute to disparate outcomes for historically marginalized and economically neglected communities._x000D_
Joseph earned his Master of Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Clemson University. He currently works as an architectural designer with ZGF, where he also serves as a co-chair of the firmwide Diversity, Inclusion, and Advocacy Group (DIAG). In this capacity he has developed new strategies for the implementation and documentation of equity checkpoints and organized presentations for firm leadership on more comprehensive ways of facilitating equitable design outcomes in the firm’s design work.
