Julian Owens, an architect with a strong community focus, earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Architecture from Clemson University. Since then, he has dedicated his career to using design to uplift underserved communities. As a co-founder of Clemson University’s NOMAS chapter, Julian has served in various leadership roles on the National Executive Board. His commitment to community has been recognized with the prestigious 2022 AIA Associate Award. In addition to his professional achievements, Julian is deeply involved in his local community in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2020, he founded Pledge of Excellence Inc, a nonprofit organization that celebrates excellence within marginalized communities. Through this initiative, Julian provides mentorship, diverse professional opportunities, and essential resources to young minds. He is also actively involved in community service programs through his affiliation with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Julian’s impact extends to his role as an Adjunct Professor at Howard University, where he equips students with the necessary tools for success in their professional and personal lives. He currently works as a Project Architect for Jacobs, gaining valuable international experience and prioritizing the specific needs of user groups in his designs.
