Description

Katherine began exploring the data of African-American and women architects when she was completing her licensure exams. Seeking to increase the number of architects who looked like herself led to path of advocacy and work focused on visibility, networking, and support for those who are underrepresented in the profession. Tracking the data in the Directory of African American Architects was and is a primary tool she uses to show the advancement and strides that need to made in the profession. Katherine and Joel have been working closely over the last four years to continue the work of the founders of the Directory of African American Architects. This includes regular updates and input of architects' information into the Directory and working with the founders and a committee to determine what the Directory needs to be for the current generation. This session will discuss the current data available, how it has been used for past analysis, and opportunities for the future.
