This seminar will reinforce the importance of an architect directly employed by a local government entity. Projects discussed will demonstrate how an in-house architect implements cost saving measures and project accountability. Examples will show how an in-house architect interacts with the legislative body and the taxpayers. This session will discuss the complexities in historic preservation projects and how delegation on the project team leads to successful projects. The focus will be on two historic rehabilitation projects, a historic courthouse on the National Register of Historic Places and a museum owned and operated by Passaic County. The discussion will involve all issues that affect these projects from budget approval, document review, legislative approval, completion and close-out. This seminar will involve the process of the partnership with contractors, outside stakeholders, and consultants working with a design professional appointed by the County. The outcome presented shows both a successful partnership and project.
