nycoba|NOMA is proud to present the OnSite Program. This new program is geared towards candidates working to fulfill their NCARB AXP requirements to sit for the Architecture Registration Exams (ARE's). The Professional Development Committee of nycoba|NOMA recognized that Construction and Evaluation hours are often the most difficult to satisfy. If a candidate's firm does not have projects currently under construction or assigns senior staff to manage the CA phase, it is hard to come by opportunities to visit a job site and acquire these critical skills. We wanted to change that! By recruiting licensed professionals at various firms willing to act as mentors, we provide real-world on-site experience to those who need it. Coordinating with NCARB, we received guidance about how to track the hours and get candidates closer to their goals. Over the past year we have been honing the program to create a replicable model to share with NOMA and launch our local effort on a national scale! From schools to mixed use towers, from new construction and restoration to adaptive reuse, OnSite participants gain a variety of insights to show how their drawings become our built environment.
