Nikolas has shaped his architectural background to be diverse in the project’s location, design processes, and technical application. His practice experience includes facility condition assessments, space needs programming, and environment-behavior research. Through his diverse array of work, Nikolas has coordinated and managed projects for many Maryland-based public sectors and transportation agencies. He has contributed to such high-profile projects & environments as the Purple Line MD Light Rail, BWI Airport, and the Dulles Corridor Metrorail (Silver Line).
Nikolas delivers projects for Vehicle & Municipal clients in transit and transportation agencies and public works departments, helping fleet operators create functional, sustainable, and efficient facility complexes. As a facility design project leader with HDR’s Vehicle O&M Facilities Design group, Nikolas brings a unique focus on infrastructure design and analysis, creating functional, sustainable, and efficient facility complexes nationally, on multimodal projects for Virginia Railway Express, Pittsburgh Regional Transit, and Coast RTA in Myrtle Beach. His project management has stabilized projects that had no champion, steered projects to remain profitable, taken on additional roles of production when necessary, and attracted repeated patronage from several clients. He is viewed as a valued resource, internally and externally.
