Speaker Bio
Tya Winn is the Executive Director of the Community Design Collaborative and an Adjunct Professor at Temple University and Thomas Jefferson University. She is also an organizer and core member of the DAP Collective and Dark Matter U. She has served as the Public Member on the AIA Philadelphia Board of Directors since 2015, serving as the AIA designee to the Center for Architecture + Design since 2020. Ms. Winn received her Barch at Syracuse University where she currently sits as Advisory Committee member to the School of Architecture. She completed a MArch with a Certificate of Urban Design at the University of Pennsylvania. Since graduation she has focused her career on real estate and community development, prioritizing affordable housing creation, economic development, creative place-making and urban revitalization. She is an active member of the National Organization of Minority Architects, serving nationally as the Conference Advisor; locally in PhilaNOMA she has served as President and other committee chairs and Project Pipeline Director. In practice, Tya focuses on equitable development practices, anti- racist design justice principles, and how experience of the built environment shapes perceptions of place.
