Participants will then learn about the unique design challenges and opportunities presented by eye care facilities, including the need for specialized lighting and equipment, patient comfort, and infection control.

Next, the tour will delve into the specific sustainable design strategies utilized in the Casey Eye Institute, a leading eye care facility that has achieved LEED Gold certification. These strategies include passive design strategies to reducing energy use and strategies to provide an intuitive and visually comfortable environment for patients with a range of vision deficits.

Overall, this tour aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how inclusive design principles can promote eye health within healthcare facilities, with a focus on the innovative design solutions employed by the Casey Eye Institute. By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply this knowledge to their own design projects, improving the health and wellbeing of patients and staff alike.
