Architectural project activity has been steadily shifting toward work on existing buildings, with the billings index for project work on existing buildings exceeding those for new construction for the first time in the last two decades. In addition to the business case, there is a social and cultural imperative to address our existing building stock. We will explore these topics through a glimpse into today’s landscape of preserving sites related to black heritage and culture.
