The Albina District is a place of multiple and sometimes contradictory truths - it has a rich history as the historic home to Oregon’s Black Communities. It is also ground zero for divestment, racist urban renewal and subsequently displacement through gentrification. The district, which was once a thriving center for the city's Black community, has seen significant changes in recent years. As a result, it has become a focal point for community-led efforts to address historical injustices and chart the district’s more joyful future.
