This session will focus on strategies that can help underrepresented emerging professionals tap into resources for continuing growth throughout their career. As a white male-dominated field, most designers out of school navigate as professionals but often lack mentorship. In this session, we will review questions and topics you should discuss with your mentor, coach and/or sponsor. We will start with career paths and general salary overviews: development and construction, small and large firm setting, and teaching; networking: how to use professional networking platforms and organizations as a way to advance your professional career; and how to best use AXP to become a well-rounded architect. We have a lot of ground to cover – Our session will focus on what it's really like to be an architect, and how to navigate yourself through the field. You better leave this session with a mentor/coach or sponsor in mind!
