Kelvin L. Simmons is a native-born Kansas Citian with more than 25 years of experience in local and state government. Kelvin's distinguished career in state government includes serving as Chair and Commissioner of the Missouri Public Service Commission, Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development and Commissioner of administration in the Office of Administration. Kelvin was also twice elected to the Kansas City, Missouri City Council. In 2012, Kelvin joined the global law firm Dentons specializing in government relations, procurement development and lobbying services. In 2018, Kelvin co-founded the Nexus Group - a full-service government affairs firm headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri. Kelvin was the former President/CEO of Swope Community Builders (Now Community Builders of Kansas City) which is the largest Community Development Corporation in the State of Missouri. Kelvin is also a founder and President of Avenir Group LLC focused on assisting in the development of affordable and attainable housing. Previous Kansas City, MO real estate projects Kelvin participated in include: The Shops on Blue Parkway, and One Nine Vine in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. This year he will be co-developing a new mixed-use development project, Jazz District III also in the Jazz District.Kelvin Simmons
