Speaker Bio

Godfrey Riddle, MPA (he/him): artist, nonprofit executive, public speaker, and serial social entrepreneur is driven to create inspiring communities where people reach their full potential. Godfrey is the Founder + President of Civic Saint. Its mission is informed by his life as a gay, Black man and cancer survivor whose family struggled with homeownership, which led him to degrees in architecture and city management to understand root causes of housing insecurity and how to use design to solve public issues while creating a sense of community. Prior to Civic Saint, Godfrey worked in the City Manager's Office and Neighborhood Services Director's Office for the 5th largest city in America, Phoenix, AZ, where he won a Bloomberg Philanthropies grant to create equitable solutions to blight, food insecurity, and sustainability. Since returning home to Kansas City in 2012, Godfrey has raised more than $20 million for the arts, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit initiatives, launched nearly 30 nonprofit programs, and been part of three successful social venture startups. His collective experiences allowed him to see a need for sustainable, affordable housing but delivered with resilience and beauty to offset the legacy of low-quality investment in Black neighborhoods.
