Description

With 1 in 5 people considered neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia, the need for inclusive
design has never been more important. Yet, fewer than 50% of neurodivergent individuals are aware of their condition,
and sensory stimuli in the built environment impact everyone—including neurotypicals. Not only is inclusive design the
right thing to do, but it also offers a compelling business advantage by fostering productivity, well-being, and a sense of
belonging for all users.

Over the past several years, HOK and its partners have conducted five research studies, workshops, and literature
reviews to identify the key factors impacting neurodivergent individuals in the built environment. This research has led
to innovative design strategies that are being applied across multiple projects. In early 2023, HOK launched a new
survey and workshop to further refine these strategies, leading to the upcoming release of “Designing Neuroinclusive
Workplaces” in March 2025.

Join us as we share the latest findings, explore real-world case studies, and discuss actionable strategies for creating
more neuroinclusive workplaces and communities. Learn how you can lead the way in designing environments that
empower neurodiverse talent and enhance productivity and well-being for everyone.
