In the historically Black neighborhood of West Dania Beach Florida, a new masterplan is being proposed to amplify the legacy and cultural impact of the residents and to empower the community via new job opportunities, affordable housing, community serving amenities, and arts and culture. Black owned Developer, CREIC, is leading a scattered site development that will build on vacant and under-utilized parcels to create a new vision for the neighborhood with increased density, walkability, open space, and affordability. CREIC's team also includes a Black architect and design team. The proposed development will consist of multiple infill residential lots with high-density micro-housing, a community site with permanent supportive housing for youth, and a 3 acre mixed-use transit oriented site with commercial and residential spaces. The entire scattered site development plan is being proposed under the vision of community empowerment, education, and self-determination to re-build a vibrant community of color that has long suffered from disinvestment and under-service. The presentation will include a conversation with the development team and stakeholders with a dive in to the proposed design, approvals process, and project costs and financing to bring this to a reality.
