Description

Some projects are optional, others are urgent, and a select few are non-negotiable. Hampton University's Kittrell Hall renovation fell into the latter category, a fast-track, budget-conscious, and accreditation-dependent transformation that required flawless execution. With limited time to deliver a fully renovated pharmacy building, collaboration between the architect, university leadership, and general contractor was critical to success. This session provides an inside look at how architects can lead high-priority projects under extreme constraints, ensuring that institutional goals, design integrity, and construction realities remain aligned. Attendees will learn best practices in strategic stakeholder engagement, proactive risk management, and creative problem-solving, all while meeting budget limitations and tight accreditation deadlines.  Using Kittrell Hall as a case study, this presentation will explore how to: (1) Anticipate and address client priorities in high-stakes projects. (2) Foster trust with GCs and decision-makers to streamline approvals and construction.  (3) Maximize impact within budget constraints through strategic scope management.  By the end of this session, participants will have actionable strategies to navigate mission-critical projects with confidence, ensuring successful outcomes even under the most challenging conditions.
