This session offers a rare comprehensive review and update of last year's legacy project. The project, dedicated to honoring Baltimore's Western Potter's Field, brought together community members, design professionals, and local advocates to reimagine how historical heritage can inform contemporary community initiatives. The presentation will explore the evolution of the project from its inception as a community-led visioning exercise to its dynamic execution involving design charrettes, brainstorming sessions, and creative activities. Participants will gain insight into the strategies used to integrate historical context with innovative design practices, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of bridging community advocacy with formal design processes. The session features original project goals as well as actual outcomes achieved. Attendees will leave with practical strategies and tools that can be adapted for future community-led and culturally responsive projects.
